Dante’s Girl is the first book I have read by Courtney Cole. I’ve seen her stuff around, and the description to this one sounded super cute, so I was thrilled when I was given the opportunity to read and review a copy.
Goodreads DescriptionI have spent every summer since I was ten years old with my father in London. Every summer, since I was ten years old, has been uneventful and boring.
Until this year.
And this year, after a freak volcanic eruption strands me far from home, I have learned these things:
1. I can make do with one outfit for three days before I buy new clothes.
2. If I hear the phrase, “You’re not in Kansas anymore, Toto,” even one more time, I might become a homicidal maniac.
3. I am horribly and embarrassingly allergic to jellyfish.
4. I am in love with Dante Giliberti, who just happens to be the beautiful, sophisticated son of the Prime Minister of a Mediterranean paradise.
5. See number four above. Because it brings with it a whole slew of problems and I’ve learned something from every one of them.
Let’s start with the fact that Dante’s world is five light-years away from mine. He goes to black-tie functions and knows the Prime Minister of England on a first name basis. I was born and raised on a farm in Kansas and wear cut-off jeans paired with cowboy boots. See the difference?
But hearts don’t care about differences. Hearts want what they want. And mine just wants to be Dante’s girl.
My heart just might be crazy.
Dante’s Girl is just what I thought it would be. Light, fun and sweet. Reece, the main character is adorable and funny.
“Before I even opened my eyes, I know the sexy accent is coming from Apollo. I can feel his epic hotness emanating through my eyelids.”
“I try to discreetly smooth my hair down. In my head, I envision myself as Chewbacca from Star Wars and wince” – love this. It’s me, every morning. Lol
“I am totally being as corny as an erectile dysfunction commercial.”
These are just a few of the things that run through Reece’s head during the story and I was thoroughly amused. This is not a deep story guys. It’s pretty predictable, but makes for a great beach read.
I will say, even though I really liked Dante’s girl, there is one thing that bothered me. Reece’s constant thoughts about how beautiful Dante’ is. I get it… he’s beautiful. I would have preferred if she thought about what a great person he was, instead of his looks the whole time. He’s a great character, and all the beautiful talk just took away from that a bit. At least for me it did.

It didn’t bother me enough to ruin the story though. I will still be anxiously waiting for the second installment that I think follows a different character. Really looking forward to it.
Oh, my favorite quote. One I seriously live by
"There is nothing hotter in the whole entire world than a great sense of humor." Word!
