Tonight I'm going to talk about Paranormalcy by Keirsten White. Lets be completely honest and say.. I bought this mostly for the cover because it's so gorgeous. The description sounded great too, but the artwork sucked me in. :) In this case, it was okay to judge the book by it's cover.
This was a great book. One thing I really loved was; so many ya books these days focus on either werewolves, vampires, or faeries.. but Paranormalcy pulls them all together in one book. It's not just limited to those three though, we are introduced to a whole plethora of other paranormals. Some I never even heard of!!! That's exciting for me!
Paranormalcy is definitely written for teens. It's fast paced, light, clean and fun. It's the kind of book I won't have to think twice about when my daughter is old enough to pull it off the shelf. <---- "and she never will be, because she is gonna stay little forever." If I say that enough, maybe it will come true. lol
I loved Evies Character. She's adorable, and coincidentally she looks just like my daughters beach barbie...lol
I love how she always has something witty to say no matter what's going down. It was nice watching her learn things about herself as the story went on, and I look foward to seeing her grow even more in the sequel.
Most of all, I have to say I enjoyed the original story in Paranormalcy. The plot was very interesting and different then I have read in the past. Some ya novels lately tend to mirror each other. Not Paranormalcy, it's one of a kind. If you haven't read this you should, I highly recommend this one! click here to order!
And if you have.. you should pre-order the sequel click here to order!
Now for the fun part of my post. The trailer! A ton of work went into this one. I think I got Lend just right.. and that was not easy to do. :) Enjoy!

Graveminder
I was recently lucky enough to win and arc of Graveminder by Melissa Marr. I was so excited when i got that email from Goodreads telling me I won it. I loved her wicked lovely series. Her writing is phenomenal, so I knew I would probably enjoy this book.
And that I did, very much. My only warning is... don't go into this book thinking it's gonna be like the wicked lovely books. Though her writing style still holds with this one, it's a complete different story and has a different feel to it. At least for me it did. I was thoroughly creeped out a few pages in, but in a good way.
I love the originality in this. I have such respect for Authors who can come up with this stuff. I just don't have it in me.. I like to read it and make it come to life on screen.. the hell with all the hard work. If I wore hats, mine would certainly go off to every writer out there.
This novel shined a whole different light on the living dead. The world Melissa Marr built here was so fascinating. This was unlike any book I have read. It's definitely one I'm proud to have on my shelf. In fact, the arc isn't good enough... I'm going to need to order the pretty hard cover too.
I loved Graveminder, and I'm sure I will continue to love everything else she writes in the future.
here is my Sims 3 Trailer for it..

Across The Universe
Across the Universe by Beth Revis is a must read.
I have always been a fan of sci fi stuff. Maybe it's because my father watched star trek every night when I was young. Or perhaps because my parents were so into aliens. We probably watched every documentary there was about abductions.. so the idea of a ship traveling to a new earth immediately grabbed my attention.
Here is the description...
Seventeen-year-old Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awaken on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules.
Amy quickly realizes that her awakening was no mere computer malfunction. Someone-one of the few thousand inhabitants of the spaceship-tried to kill her. And if Amy doesn't do something soon, her parents will be next.
Now Amy must race to unlock Godspeed's hidden secrets. But out of her list of murder suspects, there's only one who matters: Elder, the future leader of the ship and the love she could never have seen coming.
I adored Across The Universe. The reason I read is to temporarily escape to another world, so what better then to be transported through space. lol ... I liked the flow of this book. It was nice to read from the two different perspectives, Amy and Elder. Amy was my fav. hands down.. She's so strong, and took this whole situation a lot better than I think I could have.
On top of this book being simply amazing... the author is really nice. She is very interactive with her fans, and from what I can tell, she seems very sweet. I have had the priveledge of emailing with her few times. I would be quick to purchase her next book regardless, but the fact she took the time to respond to me makes me want it more. :) You build connections with these characters, it's so great to also feel connected to their maker.

Matched
I'm going to feature Matched by Ally Condie first. I read this one over New years. What a great way to start 2011. I fell in love with this book from the very first page.
The story starts out with Cassia on her way to her match ceremony. I love how excited the Author makes you feel. Like the world really is perfect, thanks to the society that makes it that way..
Then one small fault, one tiny glitch, and it's like domino's.. One question leads to another, and so forth. Like a small crack in the ice, spreading from the pressure being pushed on it..
Cassia starts off as an innocent young girl. Her whole life mapped out for her, all she has to do is take the steps drawn for her... It's easy to do if that's all you see in front of you, but for Cassia it's not that simple. I loved watching her grow throughout the book. Watching her mind piece together the faults of the society, and everything around her.. I felt her frustration, her hatred, her love.. I felt everything.
To be honest with you, even now, months from when I put it down, I still feel everything. I really cannot wait to read the next one. Unfortunately, we all have to wait until November.
If you have not read Matched yet... you definitely should. Below is the trailer I made for it. Enjoy!
